FIBALON polymer pool filter sand filter
You want to have clear water at all times? Let us convince you!
The FIBALON polymer filter material looks like large, spherical cotton balls. Polymer fiber filters are made from a coordinated mixture of various polyester fibers with different surface structures. The core of the fiber ball consists of a denser mixture and is encased in a softer sheath. The filter balls nestle well together to form a continuous filter surface. The fiber balls can thus optimally adapt to all shapes of filter systems. The high volume of the spherical shape and the very low weight result in an excellent energy balance compared to sand filters with other filter material.
The newly developed process of dynamic fiber fixation (DyFix for short) holds the dirt particles in place. The dirt is pressed inside the fiber ball by the pressure and the softer coating can absorb new dirt particles. The FIBALON polymer filter material can absorb many times its own weight, much like a sponge. On the 5. and 6. pictures you can see microscope images of the dirty filter material and the hollow fiber.
Advantages of the FIBALON polymer pool filter
Filtration performance:
- higher absorption capacity than sand or cartridge filters with conventional fillings
- high selectivity due to the novel fiber structure
- no sand in the pool + no problems with the seals
Handling:
- easy handling because of the low weight
- universally applicable
- does not bake together like quartz sand (filter sand)
- easy to maintain and backwashable
Sustainability:
- depending on the filter system, up to 40 % energy saving
- easy disposal (household waste)
- recyclable
- durable
Cost savings:
- high cleaning speed (Fibalon approx. 50 m/h vs. sand approx. 1.5 m/h)
- Very low pressure before and after filter = reduction of energy consumption
FIBALON polymer pool filter can be used wherever conventional sand filters or cartridge filters are used. The recommended diameter of the filter should be larger than 200 mm. In most filters the flow direction is from top to bottom. The very low weight and open-pored structure of FIBALON polymer filter material ensure a very small pressure difference before and after the filter. This very small difference can only be measured in the lower two-digit millibar range.
The FIBALON polymer filter material owes its resistance to many chemicals to the approx. 100% recyclable polyester fibers. The filter material is characterized by the excellent depth effect and low pressure drop. In laboratory tests, the filtration efficiency is 99% and the separation efficiency (without flocculant) is approx. 10 µm. The FIBALON polymer filter material is also available with FCA (food contact application).
Possible applications
The areas of application are unlimited: in sand filters or cartridge filters in the pool / swimming pool.
This is how the filter change works for the sand filter:
- Disconnect the pump from the mains
- Opening the filter housing
- Complete emptying of the existing filter material (quartz sand or filter cartridges).
- Rinsing the filter
- Filling the filter with FIBALON polymer pool filter
(complete to the opening) - Distribute the filter balls, but do not press them down! By squeezing
of the filter material, the filter result deteriorates. - Close the housing according to the manufacturer’s instructions
- Regular check of the flow
The following video explains the mode of action of FIBALON polymer filter material and shows the super easy handling:
We recommend, just as when using quartz sand, to activate the backwash regularly. At use of FIBALON polymer filter material, the pressure rise is only approx. 20 mbar. The automatic backwash function will not triggered. Therefore, please ensure regular manual backwashing.
How much FIBALON polymer filter material do you need for your sand filter?
